A family-oriented guest ranch nestled high in the pristine wildernesss of the San Juan Mountains and just 35 minutes from Durango, CO. Since 1956, Lake Mancos Ranch has been offering our guests a home away from home in the Colorado mountains 35 miles west of Durango. A week-long dude ranch vacation provides families with a lifetime of memories, whether that means long rides on a mountain trail, hikes in the neighboring national forest, catching a rainbow trout along the banks of a cool stream, or just relaxing by the fire with friends.

Lodging Description:
We have flexible accommodations for guests ranging from single adults to large families. Our spacious cabins have two or three bedrooms each with separate living rooms and most with two private bathrooms. All accommodations include king size beds in the master bedrooms, refrigerators and shady porches. Daily maid service is provided. We have areas on the Ranch that allow wireless internet activity.

Recreation Description:
Horseback riding remains the favorite ranch activity. We have over 70 head of outstanding horses, and each riding guest will have a personal ranch horse for the week, depending on ability. Instruction is offered to help build riding skills and maximize the enlyment of riding our varied trails into the beautiful San Juan Mountains. We also offer arena activities and the popular team penning. We have rods and reels for fishing across the road at the Jackson Lake, and for serious fly flisherman professional guide services can be arranged. We have mountain bikes available for biking, trails for hiking, and areas for horseshoes, basketball, ping-pong, volleyball, lawn games, etc. We have cookouts, campouts at our own Indian village and for the adventurous overnights in our Tipis, Nearby are scenic high country sightseeing trips including Mesa Verde National Park where you can visit the world famous ancient cliff-dwellings. White-water rafting trips are also available. Evenings include rodeo trips, movie nights, campfire activities, western music, casual fire-sides, skit night, karaoke and the Friday "Round-up" Party.

Food Description:
Menus are planned to satisfy both hearty and light appetites, and are "kid" friendly. Splendid home cooked meals, ranch style are served in our western style dining room at the Lodge. Breakfast buffet offers many choices and may include oatmeal, cereal, juice, baked good, pancakes, eggs, bacon and ham. For the health minded we offer a choice of entrees at dinner plus a salad bar, fresh fruit and vegetables. Dessert is varied and always delicious. Sunday night steak fry and our morning pancake cookouts are always favorites. The snak bar is always available with our bottomless cookie jar and beverage selection. In keeping with our family atmosphere we do not have a bar at the Ranch and we request that all alcoholic beverages remian in the privacy of your accommodations.

  • Service Charge/Tip Rate: We have a Resort Fee of 15%. Our tip policy is strictly optional but most guest leave between 10-15%.

Activities

Children's Program:
Supervised programs for 4-5 (Li'l Ropers), 6-8 (Cowpokes), 9-12 (Buckaroos) and 13-17 (Mavericks). In addition to the horseback riding program activities include cookouts, scavenger hunt, special firesides, campouts at our Indian village, swimming, skits and lawn games. Teen program includes hiking, biking, volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, campout, movie night, and pizza party. We plan and encourage family activities as well. For children under 4, babysitting can be arranged with prior notice.
