At Devil’s Thumb Ranch we offer experiences that embrace the pioneering spirit of the early homesteaders while honoring the grand landscape that surrounds us. Of course, such a luxurious escape would be incomplete without refined modern comforts like our renowned spa, acclaimed restaurants, plush accommodations and a unique approach to sustainability that preserves this stunning place for future generations. Here, guests are invited to participate in real, authentic ranch activities from Nordic skiing to horseback riding, cattle driving, fly fishing and exploring breathtaking Colorado, on over 6,000 acres (and millions of wilderness acres) that surrounds us. Or to simply unplug from everyday life, escape from the Denver heat, curl up with a good book, and reconnect with the people who matter most. It is, dare we say, an authentic Colorado ranch experience you simply can’t find anywhere else. We invite you to explore what it’s all about.

Lodging Overview

THE LODGE
The Lodge has 52 uniquely decorated guest rooms and offers plenty of places for guests to make their own from our library and business center to a game room complete with board games, billiards and a two-lane bowling alley, a 37-seat movie theater with big screen and projector, on-site café serving delicious coffee, snacks and breakfast items, and hidden nooks throughout the lodge perfect for cozying up after a long day of adventure. Our gym, dry steam room, sauna, and geothermal, heated outdoor saltwater pool and hot tub are all situated between the main lodge and High Lonesome for all guests to access during their stay.

HIGH LONESOME LODGE
Have the place to yourself at High Lonesome, where privacy and intimacy are the name of the game, perfect for larger groups and wedding parties. Nestled into the hillside just steps from our main lodge, High Lonesome offers adjoining rooms and spacious, multi-room suites for guests looking to bunk closer together in refined, Rocky Mountain style. The centerpiece of this striking Lodge is the High Lonesome Barn, a Civil War-era, hand-hewn post and beam structure that was moved piece by piece from Findlay, Ohio. Home to many of the weddings thrown at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, it’s connection to quaint outdoor gathering spaces complete with sweeping views make it an ideal venue for your most special moments.

Throughout its 50,000 square feet, High Lonesome offers endless places to relax and recharge from the comfort of cozy leather couches and chairs, outdoor fire pits, and porches perfect for kicking back on rocking chairs while taking in unforgettable views. Did we mention some of our favorite Nordic skiing and mountain biking trails are right out the back door? Just another way High Lonesome brings you closer to the things that matter most.

CABINS
We offer Four Bedroom, Two Bedroom, and One Bedroom Cabins at Devil's Thumb Ranch.

Dining Overview

Heck's Tavern: Our favorite place for gathering where light bites and craft beers become de rigueur.

Serving up modern ranch fare in a no-frill setting, our restaurant centers around an impressive, floor-to-ceiling fireplace built from sustainable materials gathered from our pristine, natural land. Rise and shine with a Breakfast Frittata or Wagyu Hash while enjoying panoramic views of the continental divide. Fuel your day of activities at the Ranch with lunchtime favorites of our famous Wagyu Burger or our vegan, gluten-free Beet & Vegetable Salad. Come nightfall, our dinner delights include Wagyu Meatloaf, Grilled Salmon, Caesar Salad, and more. Don’t forget the s’mores at the outdoor fire-pit (complimentary for lodging guests every night) and live music every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8pm to 10pm.

Ranch House Restaurant: Folks in Grand County know that if it’s great food you have a hankering for, there’s really only one place to go. Ranch House Restaurant & Saloon sits rather unpretentiously on the edge of a sweeping meadow with the Continental Divide 4000 feet above, and worn pine floors below.

Real food. Real ingredients. Real yummy. We serve New American Mountain Cuisine here – which means real food, cooked with real ingredients, including Wagyu beef from our own Ranch-raised herd. All natural and locally grown whenever we can. Always fresh, always delicious.
