A spectacular ranch for a unique summer vacation, combining Colorado Rockies splendor with northern New Mexico enchantment. Rainbow Trout Ranch offers breathtaking country in which to ride, fish, and hike, and the brand of western hospitality that keeps our guests coming back for more. Excellent kids’ programs and a fun teen program add plenty of options for everyone to go their own way, or to spend time together. We have superb riding which includes plenty of options plus all-day rides and team-sorting (working cattle in the arena). Also great fishing on the Conejos River which flows right through the ranch. Fly-fishing guides on staff to help get you started, and equipment included.  Side trips include whitewater rafting on the Rio Grande near Taos, and America’s highest, longest narrow-gauge railroad nearby. Fascinating Santa Fe is a great choice for a night before or after the ranch. After a fun-filled ranch day riding, fishing or hiking, enjoy Rocky Mountain evenings with activities that can include horse-drawn hayrides, bonfires, a western singer, games, stargazing and more. Spend six nights and take home a lifetime of memories!

Lodging Overview

Sixteen guest cabins of varied size and layout. All are quaintly decorated in western themes and each has a fireplace area and a wonderful veranda perfect for relaxing after a fun filled day. We'll be happy to match you with the perfect cabin for your family.

Recreation Overview

There is plenty to do at the ranch. For the cowboy in all of us, we offer morning and afternoon rides with many choices for destinations and levels. Our horse program is designed around excellent horses and wranglers in a setting that allows for everything from gentle to advanced riding. All-day rides, team sorting (working cattle in the arena) and the ranch rodeo in the main summer months round out our program along with plenty of good horsemanship and instruction. Then there is the fishing--we have a mile and a half of private fishing on our stretch of the Conejos River, known for its quality waters. Great fishing not far from your cabin on a beautiful river amid gorgeous Colorado scenery will delight everyone from beginners to accomplished fly-fishermen. Additional fishing opportunities surround us in the creeks and tributaries of the San Juan Mountains. It is truly a fisherman's paradise! The mountains and valleys also provide great hiking and sightseeing. We are happy to set up guided hikes anytime, or to give you ideas and directions for your own hikes. Other activities include trap shooting/archery, learning to handle a rope, playing horseshoes, horse-drawn hayrides and swimming, not to mention learning about ranch life and cowboy traditions. Evenings bring dancing in the main lodge, singing, cookouts, our own cowboy singer and conversation around the giant fireplace in the lodge. You can relax on your veranda, take a star filled walk or soothe those riding muscles in the outdoor hot tub. Whatever you choose to do at the ranch, it is your time to do as you please, be it non-stop activity, or taking time for yourself, something Moms and Mr. Moms will more than appreciate!

Dining Overview

Meals are a special delight at the ranch. Wholesome ranch cooking with plenty of delicious entrees, side dishes, home baked breads, salads and fruit, capped off with mouthwatering desserts. Most meals are served family style in the lodge, but we do have several pool cookouts and riverside barbeques during the week which are always a favorite. Special consideration given to dietary requirements and restrictions.

Rates

Adult Rate:
Sunday to Saturday stays only. Rates: $2800 per adult + taxes, optional gratuity, incidentals.
Child Rate:
Teens (12-17): $2600 each. Children 6-11: $2400 each. Children 3-5: $2200 each. Awesome teen and kids' programs! We are one of the few ranches that offers a teen program--it is optional of course but they really love it. They have a great counselor and it is not as structured as the children's programs because we have the teens join in the planning which they thrive on. It is healthy, outdoors and non-technological which they adjust to quickly, and surprisingly, love. "Cowpokes" and "Buckaroos" (ages 6-11 and 3-5): We love kids, and both our kids' programs reflect this--they have fun activities, great counselors and the one complaint we get is "Our kids are having so much fun we hardly see them!"
Service Charge/Tip Rate:
Tipping is completely optional. Tips are distributed evenly amongst all staff. And all tips, regardless of size, are sincerely appreciated.
